a perfect example of the timeless vans tradition whereby you could provide your own fabric for the uppers of the model of your choice. note the detail of the handmade alignment of the vertical stripes from opposing panels. an incredibly rare example of the van's 1960's 'customade' arch supports & heel tab 'styled by house of vans'.

ReplyDeleteI have a pair of Van Doren's with a needlepoint very similar to this but with an owl design, and I've been trying to find some more information about when these were made. Do you happen to know a relative start and/or end date of this kind of custom production? Thanks so much!

ReplyDeletewow the needlepoints are superb. we have never seen an owl design. we could be wrong however it is thought the needlepoints began as early as the late 60's & we know for sure they continued til the mid 80's. depending on the specific markings we could date them approx. besides this we would love to see pics! the needlepoints are obviously not examples of material provisions however they were for sure bespoke customs. thanx again
