vintage KIDS VANS 2-tone checkerboard print & friction tape SCENE style #98 SLIP-ON US1.5 custom MADE IN USA bmx 80s off the wall slip on

 legend has it vans featured checkerboard 1st on the foxing tape 'scene' after seeing kids draw checks by hand on the rubber. printed uppers was the logical next step, but the combination is most fresh. not sure about the brown cw here but they are size 1.5 after all.

 like I said, the nature of now digging up such deadstock works of art is rare in men's sizing. the summer leaf print here for example is size 2 yl the checkerboard is size 10.5.... but I was gutted to dig up only the left shoe. 1 such example of print & scene is on the not to distant horizon however!

 I am the 1st to admit having overlooked styl #98 & certainly feel it has been overshadowed for some time. it was the model that thrust the brand into the mainstream & despite strong ties with bmx, perhaps this is why it remains much maligned & somewhat too obvious a choice. this however is about to change

 we forsee a style #98 comeback & if vans embrace the multitude of back catalogue colorways, prints & scenes then next summer may well be the season of the slip-on

 eddie fiola knew what was up in 1984.in aforementioned style #95, with stripe/solid/stripe style #98 on display & the holy grail in hand.

 there ain't many that I regret letting go. this is one. mainly because i missed the opportunity to market with this sticker. I won't miss another golden opportune. stay attuned later for arguably the high water mark of deadstock finds b4 they too become #pillowHEATfeet
