near DEADSTOCK experience; dolomite
this is the final episode from the loren platt's deadstock shoot back in '09. was keeping this 1 to myself until now in the hope of finding another pair. alas i did find his long lost brother however that is another story i'll save for our stock hunting 101 tutorial.
vintage DOLOMITE step on step 1980's hiking boots MADE IN ITALY
when i discovered the following pair of shoes on a hunting mission in a neglected italian sports shop a few years back i almost buckled at the knees. there it had sat for many years accompanied only by pairs which were pale in comparison. this shoe certainly did have inner beauty.
a division of tecnica group out of treviso, dolomite has a long history of outdoor apparel whose climax in my opinion was reached with this piece of footwear genius. i don't know what i was thinking only capturing them in 1 poor photo back in the day. thankfully my friend at zone7style had the foresight to shoot them with some repsect. i don't need to mention any features because their inner beauty resonates deep. i do have his long lost brother available soon however i still wonder if i will ever see another pair quite like this. you may notice i talk about these in the past-tense. this is because they are dead.... stock.

last but not least on the native tip comes our tribute to one of the freshest prints we have had the priveledge to offer as yet. now the native prints have been done to death over the last 2 years however the kente cloth still endures. more than just a trend print, it is a visual representation of history, philosophy, religious & social values & political thought. this pair has already moved on however deserves a retro perspective.

to many, the term deadstock refers to the unused or brand new condition of goods. the term used correctly however actually refers to when any stocks goes beyond economical repair after a certain period of its use, & is considered dead of its value. thus unsold 'dead' stock is not found in its original condition & sometimes comes complete with storage wear, fading, deterioration & discolouartion. to me these imperfections add character to the goods, as long as it can still be utilised for its original purpose, if not another.
right here we take deadstock to another level whereby the goods, this time trainers, find themselves re-enacted in some near death experiences, but remaining far from dead of value.
